PORT OF WELLS - VACANCY

DREDGING SKIPPER

Wells Harbour Commissioners are looking to recruit a Dredging Skipper to be based at Wells Harbour for the Port of Wells vessel Kari Hege, a 24 metre, 200 tonne motorised barge carrying a purpose built excavator. The position will form part of a team of two working with the long-reach excavator driver.

The primary essential qualities required are:

Considerable experience handling large vessels in tidal conditions (desirable)
Ability to work flexible hours to suit tides is essential.
Ability to operate to the highest professional standards
Ability to work in a small team
Ability to work on own initiative
Good inter-personal skills.

Training will be given to the right applicant.

The working day is 8 hours around tide times and therefore the candidates would be expected to work some unsociable hours.

The Dredging Skipper along with the other crew member are expected to carry out maintenance work when possible during the working day while the excavator is not working.

For an application form please contact Louise De Lisle on 01328 711646 or email harbouroffice@wellsharbour.co.uk
