CORONAVIRUS

NOTICE TO ALL PORT USERS
13th May 2020
The British Ports Association and the UK Harbour Masters’ Association have now received guidance from Defra this morning on green spaces which indicates that boating on the water is possible in England. The guidance states:
“all forms of water sports practiced on open waterways, including sailing, windsurfing, canoeing, rowing, kayaking, surfing, paddle-boarding and the use of privately-owned motorised craft (in line with the guidance issued by the relevant navigation authority) are allowed.”
We will therefore allow recreational use of vessels already moored in the Harbour for the owners personal use with members of their own household from Saturday 16th May, however, the Slipways and Pontoons will remain closed until we receive further guidance and also allow us to implement further working practices in order to preserve and comply with social distancing.
Under no circumstances is anyone to stay on their boat overnight (as per caravan parks/ second homes guidance).
The Boatyard will be reopened from Monday 18th May however in order to control and manage social distancing, it will be subjected to limited access. We will allow only 4 individuals at any one time and only by prior arrangement. We expect demand will be high and therefore the Harbour Office will run a diary system whereby individuals using the boatyard will be limited to either a 9am to 12.30pm or 1.30pm to 5pm slots Monday to Friday. Keys to the yard will be made available to the individual who booked at the harbour office
These arrangements will be enforced strictly in order that we are able to protect all users of the Port and our own employees.
As soon as we receive further guidance regarding slipways, pontoons etc. we will make further announcements.
For clarity refer to the key points which will be published on the website.
Again, we thank you for your patience and understanding.
